UCSD Cryo-EM Facility Update – May 2019
For our May update, we have some exciting news for you. First off, the Titan Krios continues to collect high-quality data for a variety of users on campus, including core EM labs, their collaborators, and four campus labs that have accessed the instrument through our proposal system:

Next, we are actively moving ahead with design and development of the expanded Facility space in the basement of Urey Hall, which will house Titan 2 a second cryo-EM freezing area with Vitrobot, and space for future facility expansion. Stay tuned for more updates on this front.
Finally, we are excited to announce the hiring of a new Cryo-EM facility director. Bob Ashley, current Cryo-EM Facility Manager at the Hormel Institute (University of Minnesota), will be joining us on July 1. We’re tremendously excited to welcome Bob to UCSD!
Until next time…
Chair, UCSD Cryo-EM Facility Users Committee (CMM + Chemistry & Biochemistry)
